The second edition of "Breathborne Biomarkers and the Human Volatilome" is available and we are proud to have co-authored it!
Chapter 12, co-authored by Jiayi Lan, Francisco Blanco Parte, Guillermo Vidal-de-Miguel, and prof. Renato Zenobi, from ETH Zürich and Fossil Ion Technology, shows how SESI greatly enhances breath analysis capabilities.

Dr. Mike Wilde, of the East Midlands Breathomics Pathology Node (EMBER) Council, has been awarded this SUPER SESI of the "Together we fight COVID" program for his brilliant project proposal "Breath analysis by SESI-HRMS within a multi-omic platform for patient stratification in COVID-19 pneumonia".
We are ready to deliver our nanoESI emitters, and we are officially taking orders!
We named them the Sharp Singularity because they are sharp and because... we think it sounds cool... also because the spray forms a mathematical singularity in the cone-jet mode.

How to identify correlating metabolites and confirm their identity in breath with Super SESI?
This paper, published by our colleagues at ETH Zurich, reports the detection of a whole series of ω-oxidation products of unbranched medium-chain fatty acids in exhaled breath (ω-hydroxy alkanoic acids, ω-oxoalkanoic acids, and alkanedioic acids) with carbon chain lengths of 5-15. These metabolites correlated with the ω-oxidation pathway in a study with 146 healthy individuals.
How SUPER SESI can help to identify biomarkers of lung damage?
Molecular breath analysis supports altered amino acid metabolism in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).This paper, authored by our colleagues from the University of Zurich, shows that amino acids detected by breath analysis in real-time correlate with ongoing fibrotic processes.

PMI has decided to bet on a smoke-free future. For this, they have decided to make the required investments in biomedical research and scientific equipment. The goal is to replace cigarettes as soon as possible with smoke-free alternatives.SUPER SESI will help to asses the kinetics of different smoke-free products, and lower the risk of harm caused by smoking.
