R&D projects
TrueMassCDMS
Redefining molecular analysis – a breakthrough analytical platform pushing the boundaries of mass spectrometry for the precise characterization of complex biopharmaceutical particles. The project focuses on large entities such as viral vectors and nanoparticles, enabling accurate, high-throughput measurement and integrity assessment beyond conventional limits.
FIT is designing the ionization source, an essential component that enables the analysis and ensures reliable, high-quality characterization of these complex systems.
ARIADNE:
Redefining mass spectrometry – a breakthrough platform for real-time noninvasive breath analysis with single ion detection of intact viruses and bacteria and post-analysis molecular characterization.
FIT will develop the inlet section of the new platform.
This project is funded by the H2020-FETOPEN Program. (2021-2025)

PERFECT LIFE
Reduce the environmental contamination of pesticides and their metabolites in the air using Optimal Volume Rate Adjustment and drift reducing tools.
FIT is developing a new ultra-fast, sensitive, and time-resolved technology to assess pesticide application and exposure from a health standpoint.
This project is funded by the EU LIFE program and FIT. (2018-2023)

BREATH ANALYSIS TOOLS
Development of a new generation of Breath analysis instruments and tools comprising:
(i) A complete fluid-mechanics redesign of the SESI technology to expand the range of detectable metabolites. This was accomplished by achieving high ionization efficiency, and low carry-over effects,
(ii) a system to standardize the exhalation maneuver for online breath analysis, and
(iii) a system to collect and analyze breath offline.
This project was funded by FIT. (2016-2019)
