Abstract

Tracking Instrument Stability for Reliable Breathomics

Using an evaporation chamber-based reference gas generator, this study monitored SESI-HRMS performance over almost two years, measuring deuterated butyric acid three times per monitoring day in both ion modes. Positive-ion signals increased during the day, while negative-ion signals initially declined before stabilising; longitudinal measurements also tracked capillary performance and the impact of maintenance. The proposed quality-control protocol offers a practical framework for detecting instrumental drift and supporting more reliable long-term breathomics research.
